Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Chicken tacos all the way! Fast, cheap and delicious, do I need to say more? My family and I love to have a quick lunch outside in the sun

Sure, Bill. I'm not usually confused about where I am, but it is a fair question. I was on Cerrillos and Siler. I was referring to the person who seated me, Maitre D' is an overstatement. Next time I'm in Santa Fe, and its usually in the same area, I'll check in to see if I'm confused. Either way it was three stars :) Once I confirm I will update.

I absolutely love this place!!! Been coming for years!!! The chef's and owner are wonderful, but hate it when i have to repeat my order 5 times because the lady taking the order didn't speak much english. I will definitely return in hopes they have a better system going.

It's a three plus. I've never been disappointed with Baja Tacos. Their plates are great and have a good variety. The style leans toward AZ/CA, but it's still NM. I always order from Baja Tacos when we want a large amount of food too although I'm sure there are places a couple hundred miles south with larger servings for the price.

Great Tacos. I loved the fish tacos. On the menu it doesn't day anything about soft tacos, so I originally ordered the hard shells and then noticed my friend got soft shells. So I went back and ordered more soft shell fish tacos. the fish is grilled and fresh.

Always loved this place until yesterday when one if their breakfast burritos made me sick all night. It's hard to think highly of a place after that.

Awesome quality. Love Frito Pies and Sopapillas. Also, wonderful vegetarian selections. Cannot find a better boss, at least not better than the one I had when I worked there back in the day. :)

Amazing food, amazingly friendly staff, a must try! Breakfast burrito with chorizo was great

Great funky little breakfast taco place. My to go order was a little screwed up or I would have given them a 5 star rating.

I still visit here every time I go to New Mexico. It's just a must. It's still delicious! I took my sister with me a few months ago. She hates Mexican and New Mexican food...she HATES guacamole. She tried Baja and had to go back a few times before we left! It's just perfect, fresh, fast, homemade...how can you beat that?

Not sure why people are so enamored by this place. The tacos were standard; certainly nothing special. The girl at the counter was nice but a total space cadet. Her lack of assistance was more out of ignorance than rudeness. I would go back given the price is reasonable and the food was good but get real with the out of this world reviews.

You know the kitchen is crawling with all things unsanitary, yet I cannot deny the stuffed sopas drenched in green chile stew. Baja makes Taco Bell look expensive and even has a drive through window. It's pretty quick and painless (until about 2 hours later) and like I previously said, really skeevie but tasty.

In from Philadelphia, a food loving city. And I must say Baja Tacos was one of the best meals I had in Santa Fe. I recommend anything on the menu heavy with cheese and meat!

I love cheap, crispy, tacos and this place is one of the best.

This is a side-of-the-road hole in the wall that most people would pass up. However, if you are brave enough to take a chance you will find delicious comfort food at the core of New Mexico cuisine. I'm glad we took a chance on this place! We went here twice during our week-long stay in NM, and was our last meal in Santa Fe (at my request, of course). One of their most popular menu items are the taquitos. They have several varieties, and you can get one, six, a dozen, or more. We got the chicken on both visits and they are delicious when dipped in the guacamole. The guac is filled with tomatoes, onions, and cilantro- it was a relief to find something without chilies. It was a bit salty, but when paired with the taquitos or tacos it provided the extra seasoning to compliment the rest of the food. We also ordered the fish tacos. They actually knew what the "fish" was, which was refreshing- breaded tilapia. Although their tacos cone standard in hard shells, we opted for soft tortillas. The tortillas were flavorful and reminded me vaguely of the fresh tortillas from Guatemala. Again I topped them with guac, while my husband opted for sour cream. Each order also comes with a couple salsas, which we did not try because we aren't fans of spice. Note that the only seating is outside. While some tables are in the sun, most of the area is fully covered on the "ceiling" and partly covered on the sides. This almost creates a bit of a wind tunnel. Great breeze, but it did add a degree of difficulty for eating. However, it was totally worth it and I will go back next time I'm in Santa Fe.

Over the past few decades this essential glorified taco truck has had it's ups and downs... The food is mediocre, but it's fast. The service is pretty awesome and the outdoor eating area totally reminds me of southern california. You can order a burrito or taco to go and get a relatively decent green or red chile sauce to boot... There's an awesome (and quick) drive up window too... Update: I had a fantastic fish taco here today. I'm upping the place another star.

Nail Banger here again.Just thought I might share my experience once again.Having lived here almost a year now, had passed this place several times and just not checked it out yet.First the value , We both had a Shredded Beef Burritos that was good, but we ask for one smothered Christmas and the other without Chili, they both came exactly the same way and neither one was smothered? and the sauce was inside the Burrito the same way?and on top of that it was & over $14.00?Without any Drinks or anything else. For a couple of bucks more we could have gone across the street to Adelita`s or El Parasol and had better food and much nicer environment to eat at than just a Taco Drive thru. The guy taking the order can barley speak English maybe that the problem? Wont be back

I love the stuffed sopapillas, the chile cheese fries, the fake meats, I miss this place and always visit when I'm back in town!

I have no clue why this place isn't more popular, because the food is amazing. It's a pretty rag tag operation: one time we brought in one of their take home menus with us and they asked if they could make a copy of it because they were out and lost theirs. Very authentic new mexican food, a must to hit up.
